KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Eight Chiefs players are going to the Pro Bowl after helping the team improve from 2-14 last season to 11-5 this year heading into Sunday's regular-season finale in San Diego. The NFL announced last night that Kansas City will be represented by running back Jamaal Charles, left tackle Branden Albert, safety Eric Berry, cornerback Brandon Flowers, defensive tackle Dontari Poe, linebackers Justin Houston and Tamba Hali, and punt returner Dexter McCluster.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Neither Kansas City wide receiver Dwayne Bowe or linebacker Tamba Hali will play in Sunday's regular-season finale in San Diego. Bowe has a concussion and Hali has a swollen knee and Chiefs coach Andy Reid said yesterday that it would be prudent to keep both out of the largely meaningless game against the Chargers. The Chiefs are assured of the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoffs.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Rookie receiver and kick returner Tavon Austin returned to practice for the St. Louis Rams, and coach Jeff Fisher says he is encouraged by the rookie's progress. Austin has not practiced since he injured his ankle Dec. 8 in the Rams' 30-10 loss to the Cardinals at Arizona. Fisher said yesterday he would list Austin as "questionable" for Sunday's regular-season finale in Seattle against the Seahawks.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame basketball coach Mike Brey says sophomore swingman Cam Biedscheid plans to transfer. Brey said yesterday that Notre Dame has given the St. Louis player permission to talk to other schools, but that he doesn't know which schools Biedscheid is eyeing. The 6-foot-7 Biedscheid averaged 6.2 points and 17 minutes last season and played in all but one game.
