DENVER (AP) — The streaking St. Louis Blues beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-1 last night. Jaroslav Halak made 24 saves in the fifth win in a row for the Blues. Alexander Steen scored his 20th of the season. Colorado's 17-5-0 start was a franchise best this deep into the season. But the Blues have been the better team lately.

CANCUN, Mexico (AP) — Dwayne Evans scored a game-high 21 points yesterday as Saint Louis beat Old Dominion 62-52 to win third place in the Cancun Challenge. The Billikens led 29-27 at the half and took control of the second period. St. Louis outshot the Monarchs 42.6 percent from the field to 34 percent.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Officials are so vigilant about protecting the quarterback, Michael Brockers made a textbook hit — and still got flagged. St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher praised his defensive tackle right after a 42-21 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Fisher thought Brockers was penalized because the hit was so good.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs pass rusher Tamba Hali plans to play in Sunday's matchup with the Denver Broncos despite spraining his right ankle in last weekend's loss to San Diego. The two-time Pro Bowl linebacker rolled over his right ankle in the first half of a 41-38 loss to the Chargers. He watched the second half from the training room.
