PITTSBURGH (AP) — The St. Louis Cardinals edged the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 yesterday to set up a winner-take-all Game 5 in the NL division series. The Cardinals improved to 7-1 over the last three years when facing elimination in the postseason. Game 5 will be tomorrow in St. Louis.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Carlos Boozer scored 16 points to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 106-87 preseason victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in St. Louis last night. Derrick Rose added 13 points for Chicago. Rose hit on three of eight shots from the field in 23 minutes. He added three steals and three assists.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — The St. Louis Rams were whistled for a special teams penalty early in Sunday's game when Ray Armstrong pushed a defender out of the way and nullified a punt return by Tavon Austin. The Rams can't afford such miscues going forward. Seventeen penalties out of 33 for the Rams have been on special teams for 145 yards.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Marcus Cooper may be the embodiment of the Kansas City Chiefs. He was drafted in the seventh-round by San Francisco, cut late in training camp and signed by the Chiefs. He's proven to be an important part of their stalwart defense. The Chiefs are one of three unbeaten teams left in the NFL.
