DETROIT (AP) — Miguel Cabrera hit a tiebreaking solo homer in the ninth inning, lifting the Detroit Tigers to a 6-5 win over Kansas City last night. The Royals lost at Comerica Park hours after infielder Miguel Tejada was suspended for at least the rest of this season for testing positive for an amphetamine.

CHICAGO (AP) — Yadier Molina hit a two-run homer, Joe Kelly threw six scoreless innings and the St. Louis Cardinals shutout the Chicago Cubs 4-0 yesterday. Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro was pulled shortly after making a mental mistake that let the Cardinals score in the fifth at Wrigley Field.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Aaron Rodgers got the Green Bay Packers on the scoreboard for the first time in the preseason, but settled for six points after three productive drives in a 19-7 preseason win at the St. Louis Rams Saturday night. Sam Bradford went 8 for 12 for 156 yards on four possessions, but fumbled away the snap on 4th-and-goal from the 1 late in the first quarter.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Injured running back Jamaal Charles plans to return to Chiefs practice today, though coach Andy Reid wouldn't say how much he'll participate. Charles sat out Friday night's 15-13 loss to the San Francisco after straining his right foot in practice earlier in the week. The Chiefs' offense failed to score a touchdown in the game.
