PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) — Jason Dufner has captured his first career major, holding off Jim Furyk (FYOOR'-ihk) on the back nine and winning the PGA Championship at Oak Hill. Dufner closed with a 2-under 68 for a 10-under total, two strokes ahead of Furyk. Sweden's Henrik Stenson was three shots back and one ahead of countryman Jonas Blixt.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (AP) — Kyle Busch prevailed in a late race battle with Brad Keselowski to win the Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen. Busch held off Keselowski on a two-lap dash to the finish in the caution-filled race. Keselowski finished second in this race a third straight time.

MONTREAL (AP) — Rafael Nadal (rah-fy-EHL' nah-DAHL') beat Milos Raonic 6-2, 6-2 in the men's Rogers Cup final in Montreal. That spoiled Raonic's bid to become the first Canadian winner in the event in 55 years. Nadal's win was his third in the tournament to go along with titles in 2005 and 2008.

TORONTO (AP) — Serena Williams won the Rogers Cup for the third time, routing unseeded Romanian Sorana Cirstea 6-2, 6-love in the final. The world's top-ranked woman captured her eighth WTA title of the year and 54th of her career. Williams did not drop a set during the tournament.

MOSCOW (AP) — Usain (yoo-SAYN') Bolt has recaptured the world championship title in the 100-meters. The reigning Olympic gold medalist overcame a slow start to pass Justin Gatlin and win in 9.77 seconds. Olympic champion Brittney Reese of the U.S. won her third straight long jump world title, and American Ashton Eaton, won the decathlon title to add to his Olympic gold medal.
