UNDATED (AP) — After its four-day All-Star break, Major League Baseball returns with a full slate of night games tonight. In a familiar AL East dogfight, the New York Yankees visit Boston to play the division-leading Red Sox in the opener of a three-game series at Fenway Park.

GULLANE, Scotland (AP) — Second round play is under way at the British Open. Zach Johnson had a 5-under 66 for a one-shot lead entering today's round with Tiger Woods three shots off the lead as he chases his first major title in five years.

MADISON, Miss. (AP)— Some 66 golfers who did not complete their first round yesterday at the PGA Tour stop in Mississippi are getting an early start today. They're all chasing Daniel Summerhays, who fired a 9-under 63 for the first-round clubhouse lead.

SYLVANIA, Ohio (AP) — Alison Walshe, chasing her first victory in four years on the LPGA Tour, shot a 6-under 65 and has a one-stroke lead after the opening round of the steamy Marathon Classic. Walshe, in the top 20 on tour in putting statistics, needed only 22 putts to negotiate her round.

IRVING, Texas (AP)— — Defensive tackle Josh Brent of the Dallas Cowboys says he is retiring from the NFL at age 25. Brent faces trial for a fatal crash that killed teammate Jerry Brown last December and his agent says Brent is "taking care of his priorities."
