MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Kyle Gibson pitched six solid innings in his major league debut, and Trevor Plouffe homered to help the Minnesota Twins beat the visiting Kansas City Royals 6-2 yesterday. Wade Davis was yanked after giving up another run in the second with no one out. The one inning outing marked Davis' shortest outing of the season for the Royals, who have lost seven of their past ten games.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Adam Wainwright tossed a five-hitter to become the NL's second 11-game winner, Matt Adams had his first two-homer game, and the visiting St. Louis Cardinals beat the Oakland Athletics 7-1 yesterday. Wainwright struck out eight and walked two in a 112-pitch performance for his fourth complete game this year.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Kei Kamara scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 80th minute, to lead Sporting Kansas City to a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Crew Saturday night. Claudio Bieler also scored and had the assist on Kamara's second goal for Sporting, which moves into a second-place tie with Philadelphia in Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference.

NEW YORK (AP) — Calder Trophy winner Jonathan Huberdeau of the Florida Panthers and fellow finalists Brendan Gallagher of the Montreal Canadiens and Brandon Saad of the Chicago Blackhawks are among those chosen for the NHL's All-Rookie team Saturday. Joining the three forwards were St. Louis Blues goalie Jake Allen, and defensemen Jonas Brodin of the Minnesota Wild and Justin Schultz of the Edmonton Oilers.
