Yadier Molina, David Freese and Pete Kozma also drove in runs in the fourth. Brewers starter Kyle Lohse gave up four runs and eight hits against his former team.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Yoenis Cespedes homered in the eighth inning to give the Oakland Athletics a 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals yesterday. Reliever Jerry Blevins pitched one scoreless inning to earn the victory, and Ryan Cook worked the ninth for his first save. Kansas City's Alex Gordon matched a career high with four hits.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Kyle Porter scored the first goal of his MLS career in the 65th minute yesterday to help D.C. United tie Sporting Kansas City 1-1. Sporting KC scored earlier in the second half on an own goal. The team had an apparent goal disallowed on an offside call in the first half.
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Johnny Gray picked up his third victory of the season yesterday at the NHRA Kansas Nationals to regain the Funny Car points lead. Gray beat Robert Hight in the final round at Heartland Park Topeka for his sixth career win. Shawn Langdon won the Top Fuel division, and Jeg Coughlin topped the Pro Stock field.
