DENVER (AP) — David Jones scored in overtime last night to give the Colorado Avalanche a 1-0 win over the St. Louis Blues. Semyon Varlamov stopped 33 shots for the Avalanche, who have won three of their last four games. Jaroslav Halak made 19 saves for the Blues.

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Naadir Tharpe's short jumper with 16.5 seconds left in the second overtime lifted No. 9 Kansas to a 68-67 win over No. 14 Oklahoma State last night. Travis Releford led the Jayhawks with 18 points and Jeff Withey added 17. Markel Brown scored 20 points for the Cowboys, who had won seven straight.

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost has undergone surgery to remove his gall bladder. Yost attended the Royals workout Tuesday morning, but missed the team's initial intrasquad game in the afternoon to have the procedure. He was back at camp yesterday with an ice pack under his uniform.

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) — St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn is vying for a spot in the starting rotation this spring. Lynn arrived at camp about 40 pounds lighter than what he weighed at the end of last season. Manager Mike Matheny wants Lynn to earn his starting spot, and the pitcher says it's his to lose.
