NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The class of 2013 for the Pro Football Hall of Fame will be announced today at the Super Bowl. Among the 17 finalists are Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Cris Carter, Curley Culp, Jonathan Ogden, Bill Parcells, Warren Saap, Michael Strahan (STRAY'-han) and former owners Art Modell and Ed Debartolo, Jr.

UNDATED (AP) — All five of the top-five teams in the AP poll are in action today, including No. 1 Michigan. The Wolverines will have their hands full tonight as they face third-ranked Indiana in Bloomington, Ind. In other top-5 action, second-ranked Kansas hosts Oklahoma State, No. 4 Florida takes on No. 16 Mississippi and fifth-ranked Duke is at Florida State.

UNDATED (AP) — The San Antonio Spurs look to improve on their NBA-best 37-11 record tonight with a home game against Washington. The Spurs have won nine in a row and take on a Wizards team that limps into San Antonio with the league's worst record at 11-33.

UNDATED (AP) — There are three day games on tap in the NHL this afternoon. In an Atlantic Division contest, Pittsburgh is home to New Jersey, while in a Northeast battle, Montreal is home to Buffalo. In the final day game, it's a Northeast Division matchup as Edmonton is skating in Denver against the Avalanche.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Phil Mickelson was the leader at 17-under par heading into the third round of the PGA's Phoenix Open. Mickelson followed his course record-tying 60 with a 6-under-par 65 that left him 17-under at the midway point. Bill Haas was four shots back and one ahead of Brandt Snedeker (SNEH'-deh-kur) and Keegan Bradley.
