ELKHART, Ind. (AP) — Police in northern Indiana are investigating whether a man's apparent suicide in Elkhart and the shooting death of a woman three miles away are related.
The Elkhart Truth reports (http://bit.ly/Ymy2jT ) police there investigating the shooting of 45-year-old Debbie McDowell of Elkhart went to a vacant restaurant after receiving information that a man there might know something about her death. Police say when they got there they discovered the body of 63-year-old Ervin Howard.
The Elkhart Sheriff's Department received a call about a body in the parking lot of the former American Countryside Farmers Market about 10:50 a.m. Saturday. They discovered Howard's body about an hour later.
