James Stewart is returning to motocross and he's doing it without the support of a team.
One of the sport's most talented and entertaining riders, Stewart kicks off his first full season of outdoor motocross in four years this weekend at the Hangtown Classic outside of Sacramento, Calif.
The last time Stewart ran a full motocross season, he won every race, capturing the 2008 title by going 24-0.
Since then, he's battled injuries and concentrated on racing in Supercross.
Stewart will race without a team after recently leaving Joe Gibbs Racing. His contract with Yoshimura Suzuki Racing doesn't start until 2013, but he wanted to stay true to his word and race outdoors this year.
