(BaseballStL) -- Jake Westbrook, who was placed on the disabled list on May 9, will get the start in the series opener against the Miami Marlins on Friday, according to MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch.

Westbrook was placed on the disabled list with elbow inflammation in his throwing arm after allowing three earned runs on nine hits to the Chicago Cubs on May 8.

The Cardinals right-hander has made two rehab starts in the minors. Tyler Lyons was originally scheduled to start on Friday.

There is no word on what moves the team will make to accommodate Westbrook on the big league roster.

Westbrook is 2-1 with a 1.62 ERA in six starts (39 innings pitched) this season.
