ORLANDO, Fla. – Jake Westbrook had three walks and hit a batter Tuesday as he battled to find his control on a cloudy and cool day at Champion Stadium at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Westbrook allowed two earned runs and three hits and had one strikeout. He has a 4.50 ERA after three spring starts.

“A little erratic today,” Westbrook said. “I felt strong and that’s one of those things where when I feel that strong I have to zone in a little better, but I had some tough inning which is good to have.  Especially in spring training, definitely going to have those during the season so it was good to work around some of those.

“I battled. That’s the way I would classify today as, I was battling my control a little bit and finally got some ground balls today which was good.”

Westbrook has three starts remaining before the regular season starts April 1 in Arizona.

“I’ve felt strong all spring and at 35 years old when you can say that, that’s always a good feeling,” Westbrook added. “The key for me is to keep doing my routine and doing everything I can to stay that strong.”
