(KMOV) -- Number four ranked Webster Groves got off to a fast start by scoring a touchdown on their first drive, with the key play being a 53-yard run by quarterback Marquis Clemons.
The Statesmen rotated quarterbacks all night between Clemons and Rayshawn Simmons. Both were effective from the ground, as well as through the air. They added two more touchdowns in the first quarter to lead SLUH 21 to 7.
The Jr. Bills relied upon the pass for most of the game as quarterback Trevor McDonagh put the ball in the air 41 times and completing 24 for 358 yards. Unfortunately for SLUH, four of the passes were intercepted, which added to their three fumbles, making it very difficult for them to stay in the game.
Stefan Sansone led the Jr. Bills in receiving with 13 catches for 164 yards, while middle linebacker Jason Meehan was a major force on defense with two interceptions, two sacks and 11 tackles. Statistically, the game was much closer than the final score of 31 to 14. In the end, SLUH was just not able to overcome their many turnovers.
