(FootballStL) -- The Rams issued a lengthy statement on Tuesday distancing themselves from the tweet of a former player.
Offensive Tackle Ty Nsekhe was cut by the Rams on August 31, but many media outlets reported that he was still with the organization after his tweet made national news.
The problem began when a woman named Morgan Reed tweeted "Hard to believe that a player in a helmet defendin' a football makes more money than a soldier in a helmet defendin' his country."
Nsekhe responded by tweeting "it doesn't take much skill to kill someone".
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said "It's sad that anybody, regardless of the profession they're in in this country, would take a shot at our military. Ty doesn't have a job in the National Football League right now because he's not necessarily a deep thinker. He's not part of our organization. The respect the Rams organization has for the military is so strong I'm just disappointed that anybody would take a shot at them."
