(BaseballStL) -- Outfielder Oscar Taveras and pitcher Seth Maness were named 2012 Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Year, the team announced.
Taveras, 20, entered the season as the third-best prospect in the Cardinals organization by Baseball America. He helped lead the Springfield Cardinals to their first Texas League title since rejoining in 2005.
He batted .321 with 23 home runs and drove in 94 runs. He led the league in batting and was fourth in home runs and second in RBI.
Maness, 24, started the year at Palm Beach before being promoted to the Springfield Cardinals on May 21. He was third in the league in the Texas League in ERA (3.27) and second in wins (11).
He posted a total record of 14-4 with a 2.97 ERA over 169.2 innings pitched.
In addition, the Springfield Cardinals were named Minor League Team of the Year by Baseball America.
