(BaseballStL) - Oscar Taveras will be back in the starting lineup for the Cardinals for the second day straight after living up to the hype by launching a homer in this second at-bat Saturday.

And to this his manager and teammates weren't excited about what the 21- year-old did yesterday, would be an understatement.

''What a great day for him, one I'm sure he'll never forget, and neither will we,'' manager Mike Matheny told CBS Sports. ''For him to come up and do it in that situation, it's kind of mind-boggling.''

Saturday's starter Michael Wacha, at just 22-year-olds, also marveled at the younger hitters ability to hit in a big situation. Taveras' homer yesterday broke the zero-zero stalemate.

''That kid's a stud,'' said Wacha, ''Everyone knows what he's capable of. That was a big-time homer for us.''

Reunited and it feels so good

Yadier Molina has Sunday off as Tony Cruz will serve as Lance Lynn's catcher for the fifth time this season.  The duo is 2-2 when they start as the battery.

Cruz has also taken every advantage while starting, earning all 4 of his RBIs as a starter.

The only San Francisco starter to have a home run off Lynn is Buster Posey who returns to the giants lineup after missing the last three games because of back problems.
