(Hockey StL) -- While the St. Louis Blues’ season has concluded, forward T.J. Oshie isn’t ready to take a break from his profession. The Blues announced on Monday that the 26-year-old will play for his country at the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships.

The World Championships began for team USA on May 4, but because of the Blues being in the NHL playoffs, Oshie will be joining the tournament in progress. Team USA currently has a 4-1 record through five games. Their next game will take place on Tuesday, May 14 against Slovakia. According to the Blues’ website, Oshie will be joining team USA in Helsinki on Monday.

This will not be Oshie’s first trip to the World Championships. He competed with team USA in both 2009 and 2010. He will join former teammate Ben Bishop on team USA’s roster. Bishop has been manning the net for the U.S.

Oshie finished his NHL season with seven goals and 13 assists in the regular season, but only played in 30 of the 48 regular season games due to injuries.

His most recent injury, a stress fracture in his left ankle sustained toward the end of the regular season, required a surgical procedure to repair.

Oshie’s recovery went better than expected and he was able to play in all six games against the Los Angeles Kings.

The 5’11”, 189-pound forward is expected to compete with team USA for the remainder of the World Championships. The tournament concludes on Sunday, May 19 in Stockholm with the Gold Medal Game. There is no word yet as to whether or not Oshie will be in Team USA’s lineup for Tuesday’s game
