As District competition continues in Football, Prepcasts will be all over covering the premier teams and games.  Some teams are working to get the #1 ranking in District to ensure a first round HOME game. Other teams are fighting to keep their hopes alive. You can listen LIVE to any of the following games on www.prepcasts.com . Action begins on Thursday night!  Replays of each game are available upon completion of each game on the same site. Listen to one or all 7 games (clicking back & forth).

Thursday
Sikeston Bulldogs (8-0) at Cape Central Tigers (8-0)-Class 4, District 1
What a way to start the weekend- two 8-0 teams going head-head!  Cape Central is coming off an outstanding win over the Farmington Knights (6-2) last week 40-28. The Tigers have been a shock in 2010 to many observers since they were 0-10 in 2009! The Bulldogs who reached the STATE, Class 4 semifinals last year before bowing to Helias bring an athletic, hard-hitting team to the table again in 2010. Sikeston has scored 346 points already during this campaign and they look to add to that total on Thursday!

FRIDAY
Jefferson City Jays (5-3)  @ Ft Zumwalt West Jaguars (6-2)-Class 6, District 6
Each team opened up with a win last week in District but each in its own way. The Jags scored the tie-breaking two point conversion with only 40 seconds left in the win over Hickman. FZW’s  only losses are to Arkansas powerhouse Bentonville and Francis Howell(7-1). Howell scored 21 straight points during a 2 minute stretch in the 4th quarter to gain the lead and the win 41-33 over the Jags. A long-time STATE power, the Jays trampled Troy easily last week. Jeff City is looking to regain some of their luster and have a long post-season run. These two teams have played in some epic game in recent years. In 2008, the Jays outlasted the Jags 56-55 while in 2007, FZW won another high scoring affair by a 45-36 score. Those replays are on www.prepcasts.com. This year’s game should be another classic.

CBC  Cadets (7-1) at Parkway South Patriots (4-4) - Class 6, District 3
Parkway South entertains the Cadets of CBC (the #3 ranked team in STATE) in round 2 of the district.  The Patriots bring a highly potent offense that is averaging 28ppg into the contest. QB Eric Laurent presents a duo threat as he has 794 passing yards (8 TD strikes) and 535 rushing yards (11 TD’s). Lawrence Scott and Gerald Graves are the featured running backs for the Patriots.  The Cadets, fresh off a thrilling win over Marquette that featured a goal-line stand in the last 20 seconds, have won each of their last two games by 3 points! CBC has mixed their run game between the trio of Tony Brown (Jr), Josiah Stanfield (Sr) and Jon Parker (Soph). Dalton Deimos has almost 1500 passing yards on the passing side of things for the Cadets.

Miller Career Phoenix (6-0)  @ St. Mary’s Dragons (3-5) – Class 4, District 4
The Dragons host the surging Phoenix in a Class 4 game. Miller Career raised many eyebrows recently with their 20-17 win over DeSmet (Class 6 school). Demarco Billups engineers the Phoenix attack and has a 117+ pass rating for the season! Lamore Wise is the leading rusher and pass receiver for 2010. The Dragons, use their mis-direction attack, hope to control the ball. Will Ruzicka throws and runs the ball with plenty of skiil.  Alan Lee provides the inside run game for the Dragons.

St Pius Indians (2-6) @ Valle Catholic Warriors (7-1), Class 1, District 2
The STATE ranked Warriors host the Indians as they look ahead to post-season play. Valle has permitted on 41 points during the entire 2010 season while scoring 389 points!  Tremendous line play, an effective power spread offense and a “shut-down” defense make the Warriors a team to keep on your radar for a long post season run. In 2009, the Warriors fell at the Dome and have been looking for a return trip this entire year.

Parkway West Longhorns (2-6)  @ Vianney Golden Griffins(1-7)-Class 5,District 5
Both teams come into this game with lots of emotion since they feel that the winner of THIS game will be in the driver’s seat for post-season play. Nothing will be held back in this game! The Longhorns coming off a win over Washington are led on the ground by Charles Thomas who has 8.5 yd average per run and 8 touchdowns.  Vianney will finish their regular season at home with two consecutive home games. Markel Smith has carried the ball with the most success for Vianney. Look for some offense, trick plays, whatever it takes here—each team realizes its significance.

Cleveland Commanders (1-7) @ Chaffee Red Devils (3-5) – Class 1, District 2
Each team realizes a win in this game will likely result in post-season play. The Red Devils won last week 40-10 over St. Vincent in the opening  week of District. Displaying a stout defense in most games, the Red Devils got their offense rolling last week. Cleveland brings several athletic players on both sides of the ball. Looking to eliminate turnovers and penalties, the Commanders could be a real “hand full” in this game.
