(HockeyStL) -- He’s been one of the hottest scorers in the NHL this season and now he’s going to be a Blue for the next three seasons.  Alex Steen agreed to a three year, $17.4 million contract extension today.

The 29-year old is having a career year with 36 points - including 22 goals - through 33 games this season.

Steen has been very uncomfortable with the attention paid to his success this year but it’s impossible to ignore how good he’s been.  The Blues are among the top four teams in the Western Conference largely because of the offense they’ve gotten from their top forward.

Steen and GM Doug Armstrong will comment on the move tomorrow.  Check out Hockey STL for the latest on this story.
