(BaseballStL) - For some guys in Major League baseball their jobs are secure.  They come to spring training knowing they have a starting spot, let alone a roster spot, all locked up.

Shane Robinson is unquestionably not one of those guys.

Every single year the 29-year old comes to Jupiter, Florida in a fight for his baseball life.  And thus far, he's succeeded in sticking on the big league roster the last couple seasons.

But after the Cardinals added Peter Bourjos to the outfield mix, he knows nothing is going to be given to him.

"I'm positive about it.  I feel good.  I know I have a lot to offer still," Robinson said. "I don't like to think about it too much but you see the addition of another outfielder and it's getting pretty packed.  So we'll see what happens in spring training."

Robinson hit .250 during the regular season, pretty good for someone who almost never starts, but he bumped that number up to .313 during the postseason.  He even supplanted Jon Jay as the starting center fielder at times.

But even that success guarantees Robinson nothing.

"A lot of it is out of my control.  There's not a lot of other ways to look at it.  You just have to go out there and do your job," Robinson said. "I've done it over the past few years and it's worked out so far."
