(BaseballStL) -- The St. Louis Cardinals have set their sights on signing starting pitcher Roy Oswalt, according to Nick Carfado of the Boston Globe.
The report also states that the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are also interested in signing the 34-year-old right hander.
It has been previously reported that Oswalt will be willing to sign a one-year deal which has made the free agent pitcher to be a hot commodity this offseason.
Oswalt would “love to pitch” in St. Louis, but the Cardinals currently have a five-man starting rotation which includes Adam Wainwright, Chris Carpenter, Kyle Lohse, Jaime Garcia and Jake Westbrook.
It is assumed that Westbrook would likely move to the bullpen if the Cardinals added Oswalt.
