ST. LOUIS (FootballStL) – The St. Louis Rams have filled the empty roster spot left when the team traded Josh Gordy earlier this week.  That void has been filled by linebacker Vernon Gholston, the team announced Wednesday night.

Gholston, an Ohio State product, was the sixth overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.  He spent last preseason with the Chicago Bears.

A quick look at Gholston’s numbers in three seasons with the Jets would appear to make him a bust especially considering he reportedly made $21 million and did not record a sack.  He had two years remaining on his contract before he was cut.

Gholston played alongside current Rams linebacker James Laurinaitis during his time at the Ohio State University.
