ST. LOUIS (FootballStL) -- The St. Louis Rams are working hard to rebuild a franchise that has won only 15 games in the last five season and it comes as good news to fans that the team has locked up defensive end Chris Long with a four-year contract extension.

The announcement was made on the team’s Twitter account on Sunday afternoon.

The financial details have not been revealed and are expected to be “huge,” according to Fox Sports Insider Jay Glazer

Long is coming off his best season since being selected No. 2 overall in the 2008 NFL Draft.  The defensive end recorded 13 sacks last season and has 30.5 sacks in his four-year career.

The Rams are also close to locking up linebacker James Laurinaitis, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.  Laurinaitis is in the final year of his contract.
