(FootballStL) -- The Rams have fired defensive coordinator Tim Walton. He was with the team for only one season. He came to St. Louis from Detroit where he spent four years as secondary coach of the the Lions.

“I would like to thank Tim for his hard work and contributions to our defense,” said Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher. “I wish him well in the future.”

The Rams ranked 15th in the league in total defense in 2013, giving up an average of 345 yards per game. After watching the defense struggle early in the season under Walton, Fisher took a more direct role in overseeing that side of the ball.
