(FootballSTL) -- On a day when Tavon Austin shredded the Indianapolis Colts, a star continues to emerge on the Rams defensive line. Robert Quinn is quickly becoming a NFL game changer.

On the 6th play of the game in the Rams 38-8 win over Indy, Quinn broke through the Colts line and ripped the ball away from quarterback Andrew Luck. The sack caused a fumble that bounced into the hands of Chris Long, who rumbled 45 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead. Quinn picked up 2 sacks on the day, and now has 12 on the season. Quinn also led a Rams defense that forced 5 Indy turnovers.

When the Rams drafted Quinn with the 14th overall pick in the 2011 draft, there were a number of questions surrounding the talented end out of North Carolina. Even though he was widely viewed as one of the 5 or 6 most talented players in the draft, Quinn came into the league with both character and health issues. Quinn missed his entire junior season at Carolina after he lied to the NCAA about receiving improper travel accommodations and jewelry. Quinn also slid down draft boards because he had brain surgery as a senior in high school.

However, Quinn’s quickness and explosion off the edge has never been in question. Over the last 3 seasons, Quinn had 5 sacks in his rookie year in 2011 and 10.5 sacks in 2012. Quinn has rolled up 12 sacks this season, and may have a trip to the Pro Bowl at season’s end.

An up and down Rams defense has received a steady dose of speed off the edge with Robert Quinn establishing himself as one of the NFL’s feared pass rushers.
