(FootballStL) -- Expectations are high for Year Two of the Jeff Fisher Era. After stocking their draft shelves with picks from the Robert Griffin III trade, the Rams have given fans a bright future ahead. However, will the Rams take a leap from 7-8-1 to the playoffs?

The Rams have been here before, only to fall back the very next season. The Rams won seven games in 2010, only to implode the next season by losing their first six games and finishing 2-14. Coach Steve Spagnuolo was fired at the end of that season.

The good news is that the Rams should be encouraged about 2013, after going 4-1-1 in the NFC West last season. The bad news is that rest of the division also improved over the offseason.

“Well, we’ve got our first opportunity this week, and we’ll find out, “ said Fisher. “I think Arizona is a much improved team over the last year and we know what the other two are capable of doing. I think us and Arizona are chasing them, and feels like we’ll be chasing them for a while.”

For the second year in a row, the Rams will enter the season as the youngest team in the NFL. Last year, Fisher and General Manager Les Snead overhauled the roster by adding eight undrafted free agents among their 18 rookies.

“There’s pro bowlers that were undrafted college free agents,” said Fisher. “So yeah, basically everybody’s doing it. You spend a lot of time on the bottom of those lists. You spend a lot of time in it, so its worked out good so far.”

Meanwhile, the Rams highly touted rookies Tavon Austin,  and fellow first-rounder Alec Ogletree, will open the season as starters against divisional rival Arizona on Sunday.
