ST. LOUIS (FootballStL) -- As NFL fans celebrate the return of the “real” referees this week it is all business for Rams and cornerback Cortland Finnegan as they prepare for the Seahawks on Sunday.
“I could care a less who is officiating,” Finnegan said. “We can’t control it. We can only play the game. I know a lot of people are glad to have them back and it should make for a smoother game.”
A couple of weeks ago, Finnegan told reporters he actually liked the replacement referees because they let the players play.
Finnegan’s teammate wide receiver Danny Amendola reiterated the general happiness of having the normal pinstripes back starting this week.
“It is great, back to the way it used to be,” Amendola said. “I don’t know if there was necessarily a problem. I mean there is good and bad things, obviously, but I felt like the (replacement referees) let us play more just because we can get away with more things. It is over now so we can focus on the real refs and playing good football.”
Head coach Jeff Fisher says he won’t give the referees a standing ovation when they walk onto the field Sunday and will not hesitate to ‘dog cuss’ them.
“Right after the opening kickoff,” Fisher said quickly after being asked when he will get on the referees.
