Blues forward T.J. Oshie will be in the lineup for Game 2 of the Blues-Blackhawks series, after missing the last three games, including Game 1 of the playoffs, with an upper-body injury.
Oshie was injured a little over a week ago after being the recipient of an illegal high hit by Minnesota’s Mike Rupp. Oshie’s injury was not specified, other than labeled an upper-body injury by the team.
Oshie’s status for Game 2 was up in the air up until game-time. Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock did not indicate in his morning press conference whether or not the forward would be returning to the lineup.
“We’ll see,” Hitchcock said. The coach would only say that he hoped to have all of his injured players back by next week’s Game 4.
When Oshie emerged with his Blues teammates for the pregame skate, it became apparent that he would be in the lineup. During the skate, Oshie was with David Backes and Alexander Steen on the top line.
Oshie had a good practice on Friday at St. Louis Outlet Mall, but his status remained uncertain after the optional skate. As of Tuesday, Oshie had not been cleared for contact, but said he felt good. The forward did not participate in Wednesday’s team practice and was not in the lineup for Game 1 on Thursday.
Oshie had the second-most points on the Blues during the regular-season, tallying 60 points (21 goals, 39 assists) in 79 games.
With Oshie’s return, Brenden Morrow is expected to be scratched from the lineup.
