(BaseballStL) -- Yadier Molina was absent for a second day as he continues to tend to a family matter. According to his representatives, MDR Sports Management, his mother Gladys underwent a medical procedure. Mike Matheny said Thursday there is no timetable for the catcher's return.

Allen Craig also has no timetable for a return according to Matheny. He was scheduled for a reevaluation Thursday, but the Cardinal manager said Craig is still continuing the rehab process.

Trevor Rosenthal set the franchise record for strikeouts in a season by a reliever. The young hurler struck out the side Tuesday to move to 96 strikeouts on the year, three more than the previous record holder, Diego Segui. He now has 97.

Rosenthal fanned his record setting number in just 67.1 innings, well under Segui's 100.1. He is currently pacing 1at 2.78 strikeouts per nine innings, which trails only Jason Motte's 2008 campaign (13.09) for relievers with at least 10 innings pitched.

Chasing him is Kevin Siegrist at 12.53 strikeouts per nine innings. Rosenthal's innings pitched blow away everyone else on the strikeout rate list. His current 68.1 are more than the next two highest inning totals combined.
