(BaseballStL) — Pat Neshek made his first All Star appearance in the bottom of the fifth inning, charged with holding a 3-3 tie.

He began by getting Josh Donaldson to ground out to first, but gave up a single to Derek Norris to follow.

After the 1-2 combo of Oakland hitters, Alexei Ramirez poked a 3-2 single into left to put two on. Mike Trout got ahead 2-0 before chopping a single over the third base bag to score a runner.

It would be the end of Neshek’s game, as Mike Matheny came out to pull the Minnesota native and go with Tyler Clippard.

The Cardinals have had a rough go of it, allowing all five AL runs in a 5-3 game.
