(Missouri Basketball App) – Missouri junior point guard Phill Pressey on Thursday was named one of 12 finalists for the 2013 Bob Cousy National Point Guard of the Year Award.
The honor, named for Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic Bob Cousy, annually recognizes the top point guards in men’s college basketball.
Pressey leads the SEC and ranks 7th in the country in assists, averaging 7.2 per game. He needs seven more to pass Anthony Peeler’s 497 dimes for the most in Missouri history.
The third-year player already owns a school-record 12 double-figure assist games in his career.
Until March 7, fans can visit the Bob Cousy Award website to vote for who they think is the country’s best point guard. The player with the most fan votes will receive a vote toward the final committee vote.
The current 12 finalists will be narrowed down to five players on March 11. The final five players will then be presented to the Hall of Fame’s selection committee and the winner will be announced as part of Final Four weekend in Atlanta.
