(Missouri Football App) – The awards keep coming for Mizzou athletes in 2013. Tuesday it was announced Max Copeland, a senior guard, was a semifinalist for the Burlsworth Trophy.

The award is given to the most outstanding collegiate football player who began his career as a walk-on.

Copeland, a native of Billings, Montana, walked on in 2009 and has started 19 times since joining the Tigers.

The field, which began with 53 nominated players, has now been narrowed to 10 semifinalists.  one of 10 student-athletes in contention for the award, which began with 53 originally nominated players.

Fans can vote in support of players at www.burlsworthtrophy.com.

They may only vote once per day until November 24. The fan voting element accounts for five percent for a player’s votes each round and will be combined with results from the selection committee.

Copeland joins James Franklin, who was announced as a semifinalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, honoring the best offensive player with ties to the state of Texas.
