COLUMBIA, Mo. (Missouri Football App) -- The 2012 college football season is just five weeks old and Mizzou senior running back Kendial Lawrence already has matched some of his career best numbers.
The senior from Rockwall, Texas has tied his career best rushing touchdowns with five. We’re five games into the season and Lawrence is in line to crush his career best yards-per-rush numbers. In 2010, he ran for 5.8 yards-per-rush and this year, he’s averaging 6.5 yards-per rush.
Lawrence’s play has actually been very important for the Tigers already stagnant offense. Although he may have a few less rushing attempts than them, Lawrence currently sports a better yards-per-rush than highly popular SEC running backs Marcus Lattimore from South Carolina and Eddie Lacy from Alabama.
To put this useful stat into perspective, Lawrence may not gain the most rushing yards in the game, but when he does get asked to rush the ball, he gains more yards on those attempts than some very good SEC running backs.
