(HockeyStL) – Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock did not have any good news Friday on the status of Blues' forwards Andy McDonald and Alex Steen. The two players will not accompany the team on the upcoming three-game road to Nashville (Saturday), Ottawa (Tuesday), and New Jersey (Thursday).
McDonald only played in three games this season before taking a hit that resulted in another concussion. Andy McDonald missed three months last year with a concussion after he tripped skating through the neutral zone and collided with an opposing player.
Alex Steen has been out since December 27th and has been "close to returning" since before the All-Star break. Steen was one of the Blues most consistent players before he was injured. The forward started feeling concussion-like symptoms the day after the hit and has been out ever since.
While both players appear to be close to returning, it is clear the Blues are confident they won’t be ready before next Saturday's home game against the Colorado Avalanche or they wouldn’t be staying in St. Louis.
