JUPITER, Fla. - Cardinals manager Mike Matheny hopes to get third baseman David Freese back in the lineup following Wednesday’s off day.
“I see him playing on Thursday,” Matheny said Tuesday.
Freese is dealing with a sore tailbone and lower back stemming from a tumble into the stands while trying to catch a foul pop-up on March 4.
“He’s getting closer,” Matheny said. “He’s doing a little bit more every day.”
