(BaseballStL) – Cardinal Nation is riding high with the Game 4 win over the Giants in the NLCS, but don’t think for a moment that the Redbirds will look beyond the Giants and start thinking about the Tigers and the World Series. Not if manager Mike Matheny has anything to say about it.

“We're looking at a team right here with the Giants that have shown a great deal of resiliency, as well, walking into Cincinnati and did something very unlikely. So we don't look past that, at all,” Matheny said in his post-game statements.

“They just don’t go away. That’s part of their character,” says Matheny. “It’s become their nation. We’ve got a long way to go.”

Matt Holliday agrees.

"We're not taking the last game to get into the World Series for granted. The Giants have proven they're a great team and they have with their backs against the wall came back against the Reds," he said during post-game comments.
