(BaseballStL) — The Ice Bucket Challenge continues to gain steam on social media and two top Cardinal names have joined in.
The game involves daring a person to dump a bucket of ice water on their head and if they don’t follow through within 24 hours, they most donate money toward fighting ALS. Obviously participants can donate either way, but the whole thing is designed to bring awareness to the disease.
Friday, manager Mike Matheny and general manager John Mozeliak fulfilled their challenge, and the Cardinals posted the video proof on Instagram.
Matheny went first, accepting the challenge laid out by Rams head coach Jeff Fisher.
Mozeliak had the honor of dumping the bucket on his manager, something the skipper said turned out to take longer than he expected.
“He took his time, I thought he had a never ending bucket,” he laughed. “So I took my time too.”
The manager passed the challenge on to Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, lead sports columnist and media figure.
Mozeliak was challenged by Maureen Hill of the St. Louis Regional Chapter of the ALS Association and Matheny paid him back for the slow pour with one of his own.
Fox Sports Midwest’s Jim Hayes was called out by the Cardinal GM as next in line and plans to take his bath after Friday’s game at Busch.
