WASHINGTON (BaseballStL) -- Kyle Lohse will get the nod in Game 4 and the chance to advance the St. Louis Cardinals into the National League Championship Series Thursday afternoon.
A strong performance from Lohse advanced the Cardinals over the Braves in the wild-card play-in game last Friday.
It will be the third time Lohse has faced the Nationals since September 1. His two previous starts against the Nationals resulted in no-decisions. He has allowed 12 runs (8 earned) on 17 hits in 11.2 innings pitched.
The Nationals are expected to send left-hander Ross Detwiler to the mound to counter Lohse. The 26-year-old St. Louis native didn’t last long in his last start, against the Cardinals on September 30, pitching 2.1 innings while allowing three runs on four hits and walking five batters.
This season, Detwiler was 10-8 with a 3.40 ERA in 33 games (27 starts).
