(BaseballStL) —  Joe Kelly takes the hill against the Brewers as the Cardinals go for the sweep Wednesday. Though he saw Milwaukee five times last season, only two of them were starts.

Both came in September, and the late-season losses were his only two in the second half last year.

He gave up seven hits and three earned runs in both performances.

Kelly is 1-0 to start the season in his firs two starts, going 11.1 innings and allowing only one earned run on the year. He will be backed by a new lineup Wednesday, with Kolten Wong manning the leadoff spot and both Jon Jay and Daniel Descalso in the mix.

1) Kolten Wong 2B

2) Allen Craig RF

3) Matt Holliday LF

4) Matt Adams 1B

5) Yadier Molina C

6) Jhonny Peralta SS

7) Jon Jay CF

8) Daniel Descalso 3B

9) Joe Kelly P

The Cardinals hit Brewers starter Wily Peralta well as a team, though the best matchup (Matt Carpenter) is on the bench. Carpenter is 9-for-5 with a home run, a double and three walks against Peralta.

Matt Holliday and Allen Craig both have had success, but Jon Jay has had the most effective experience, hitting .333 over 12 at bats.
