SAN FRANCISCO (FootballStL) -- It has been a different season for Steven Jackson.  The aging running back has seen his playing time diminish compared to the previous eight seasons with the Rams.  He was even rumored to be trade bait at the deadline which has since passed.

How do your feel about the Rams and 49ers playing to a tie? Share your thoughts.

Now Jackson finds himself in an unfamiliar place with his future in St. Louis uncertain after this season.  The next eight games could be considered an audition for the running back.

“Well, each and every week I take great pride in going out on the field and leaving some good footage,” Jackson said after Thursday’s practice.  “I believe that you always continue to leave your legacy out there, how you will be remembered and always, always showing young guys how to play regardless of the scoreboard, regardless of what the season is looking like.”

Jackson led the Rams to a gritty start against the 49ers compiling 44 rushing yards on eight carries and a touchdown in the first quarter.  He finished the game with 101 yards on 29 rushing attempts.  It was his first 100-yard game this season.

This season, above all others, Jackson has shown he is a true professional.  When others would complain about playing time, he has only stated that he is ready for what Jeff Fisher and the coaching staff has planned for him.

For Rams fans, hopefully we see this Steven Jackson the rest of the games this season.
