JUPITER, Fla. (Baseball StL)-- The St. Louis Cardinals will again team with the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation to raise money for SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center this season by getting pledges and donations for each home run they hit.
Matt Holliday and David Freese served as ringleaders of the marketing campaign a year ago and Allen Craig was added as a third co-chair for 2013.
The project raised more than $480,000 dollars during the first year in 2012. Fans can pledge as little as 25 cents per home run and credit cards are billed at the All-Star break and then again after the season for the number of home runs the Cardinals hit.
Starting March 15, pledge forms will be available at all Dierbergs and Johnny Mac’s locations.
A new twist to this year’s campaign is a special Game Ball Relay event on Opening Day April 8 in which the game ball will travel throughout the streets of St. Louis by more than 200 runners before reaching home plate just before first pitch against the Cincinnati Reds.
