Jupiter, Fl (KMOV) -  Day 2 of Cardinals Grapefruit League action features a rematch of yesterday's opening league debacle against the New York Mets.

The Mets actually have two games today going on simultaneously, as they also play against the Florida Marlins at home in Port St. Lucie. The Mets will most likely send a lot of their younger players and keep their "stars" at home, sort of what the Cardinals did yesterday.

The big story of today's game is the Cardinals pitching debut of newcomer Brad Penny. Penny, a two time National League All-Star, should pitch about two innings.

Today's Cardinals lineup was posted a couple hours ago, and fans will be glad to see the big bats playing for the first time this Spring.

The lineup:

1.Julio Lugo (2B)
2.Colby Rasmus (CF)
3.Albert Pujols (1B)
4.Matt Holliday (LF)
5.Ryan Ludwick (RF)
6.Yadier Molina (C)
7.David Freese (3B)
8.Joe Mather (DH)
9.Tyler Greene (SS)

- Second baseman Skip Schumaker will not play today and will get some extra defensive work in with Felipe Lopez and Jason LaRue.

Of course, I'll have photos and post-game video on the site later today. Enjoy your day and stay tuned.

Oh real quick.

Funny story: Brendan Ryan went to the Lakers/Heat game last night in Miami, but had trouble getting down to the Lakers locker room. Ryan went to the game with Yadier Molina, Ruben Gotay, and both big and little Pujols (Albert and A.J.). The injured shortstop said when he tried to follow Pujols down to the Lakers locker room, the security guard wouldn't let him in because he didn't recognize him without the mustache he became known for last season. When Ryan showed the guard a picture of him with the iconic facial hair, he was finally allowed access. Ryan told media today inside the Cardinals clubhouse it was the coolest thing seeing Kobe "Black Mamba" Bryant and getting a picture with him. He said Bryant didn't recognize him though.
