(Missouri Football App) – Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel is a finalist for the Maxwell Coach of the Year Award.

The Maxwell Football Club made the announcement Tuesday.  It comes three days after Missouri defeated Texas A&M 28-21 to win the SEC East and improve its record to 11-1.  The Tigers claimed a spot in this year’s the SEC Championship Game despite being picked to finish 6th in the conference’s eastern division.

Two other coaches, Auburn’s Gus Malzahn and Duke’s David Cutcliffe, are the other finalists for the award.  The winner will be announced Dec. 19.
