ST. LOUIS (HockeyStL) -- The House of Payne will now reside with the Los Angeles Kings as former Blues head coach David Payne will become an assistant with the defending champs, according to 590 The Fan’s Andy Strickland.
Payne took over as Blues head coach during the 2009-2010 season, but was fired 13 games into last season when the talented team was underperforming. The team then hired veteran coach Ken Hitchcock who led the team to the second round of the playoffs before being eliminated by the Kings.
During three seasons with the Blues, Payne was 67-35-15 in 137 games coached.
