(FootballStL) - ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted Tuesday afternoon that former Rams draft pick Michael Sam, the NFL’s first openly gay player in league history, is on his way to Dallas for a physical.

If all goes well, Schefter reported, the former Mizzou defensive end will be signed to the Cowboys practice squad.

Sam was drafted by the Rams in the 7th round this year and had a very good preseason, registering a couple sacks, but was released on the final day of cuts.
