(KMOV.com) -- The St. Louis Blues may soon have a new owner after a Chicago businessman made a verbal agreement to purchase a majority share of the club.
The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports an announcement is expected as early as Thursday. Matthew Hulsizer, owner of a Chicago financial services firm, has been trying to work a deal out with the Blues since Dave Checketts announced the team was for sale in March.
Hulsizer has made a verbal agreement to buy a majority stake of the team, so a deal must be close.
If the Blues accept the deal, it would still have to be approved by the National Hockey League. That approval process could take weeks.
