(BaseballStL) -- The 15-inning marathon series finale in Colorado didn't end so well for the Cardinals.  It didn't start so great either.

In the first inning with Matt Carpenter on first with two outs, Rockies pitcher Roy Oswalt threw to first to hold the runner.  First baseman Todd Helton caught the ball and then faked the throw back to the mound.

Carpenter was picking himself off the ground and did not see the fake, stepped off the bag and was tagged for the third out of the inning.
