ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) -- The St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to terms on a minor league deal with reliever Brian Fuentes, the team announced on Saturday.
Fuentes, who was recently released by the Oakland Athletics, will be sent to the minors before any possible call-up with the Cardinals, according to Ken Rosenthal.
The left-hander could add depth to the bullpen which has struggled from the left side this season; Mark Rzepczynski and Barret Browning are currently the only left-handers in the Cardinals bullpen.
Fuentes, a three-time All-Star, is 2-2 with 6.84 ERA and is 5-for-8 in save opportunities in 26 games this season.
